Challenges & Pain Points

Time

Every Second Counts

Delay at an intersection isn't just frustrating. For a patient in cardiac arrest, it's life or death. Response time matters more than any other variable.

Ambulance

Intersections Are Dangerous

The most dangerous moment in any emergency response is crossing an intersection. Cross-traffic doesn't always yield. Collisions happen. Crews get hurt.

Legacy Systems Fail

Line-of-sight hardware misses vehicles that turn early or change routes. When the hardware fails, first responders proceed on red.

Machine Learning

Maintenance Never Stops

Roadside hardware breaks down. Someone has to maintain it. Most cities don't have the resources to keep up, leaving coverage gaps when it matters most.

What is Emergency Vehicle Preemption

Emergency Vehicle Preemption clears intersections ahead of arrival. LYT predicts the best route for response, communicates with traffic signals, and turns lights green in advance.

No line-of-sight hardware. No reliance on roadside equipment. No missed signals when a vehicle turns early or changes course.

First responders move faster. Intersections are safer for everyone.

The LYT Advantage

Route Prediction

LYT predicts the most likely route to an incident and pre-clears signals along the way. No manual input from the driver. The system learns from every run and gets smarter over time.

Funding

Most legacy traffic systems are large capital purchases. Hardware, installation, and years before you see a return. LYT is different.

As a cloud-based software platform, LYT is an operating expense. Predictable annual costs. Continuous updates included. No new procurement cycle every time the technology improves.

For agencies navigating budget approvals, OpEx is often faster to authorize and easier to justify with real performance data.

Not ready to commit? Start with a pilot.

LYT's 90-day pilot program gets your agency to measurable results quickly. Defined scope, minimal disruption, and a clear path to full deployment.

LYT is available through several cooperative purchasing contracts. Your agency can procure directly without running a competitive solicitation, saving months of procurement time while satisfying bidding requirements.

LYT is currently available through:

DES — Washington State

Washington agencies can procure LYT directly through the Department of Enterprise Services cooperative contract. No RFP required. Fastest path to deployment if you're in Washington.

LA Metro Contract

LYT holds a competitively awarded contract with LA Metro. Eligible agencies can use a rider contract to procure LYT directly, skipping the solicitation process entirely.

NEORide

NEORide member agencies across Ohio and the Midwest can access LYT through this FTA-compliant cooperative. If your agency is a member, procurement is already within reach.

If your state or region uses a different cooperative, talk to our team. We'll help you find the fastest path to contract.

Several federal programs can fund a LYT deployment. Here are the most relevant pathways:

IIJA — Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

Substantial IIJA funds remain available as of early 2026 across multiple DOT programs. Transit agencies and municipalities can access funding through several IIJA-authorized programs including those listed below.

FTA Section 5307 — Urbanized Area Formula Funding

Provides federal resources to transit agencies for capital, operating assistance, and transportation-related planning. Available to urbanized areas with populations of 50,000 or more. Fully funded for FY26.

CMAQ — Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality

Explicitly covers priority control systems for emergency vehicles and transit vehicles, including signal technology. Up to 100% federal share for qualifying priority control projects.

HSIP — Highway Safety Improvement Program

Funds safety-focused infrastructure improvements, including technology that reduces intersection risk for emergency vehicles.

State and Regional Funding

Many states and regional MPOs offer additional funding for transit technology and public safety infrastructure. Our team can help identify what's available in your state and geography.
