LYT partnered with the MBTA for a 1-year Proof of Concept along highly trafficked routes—57 and 66 on Brighton Avenue. This pilot addressed key challenges in Boston’s transit system, including interoperability with customized ATMS systems, adapting to new technology, and improving efficiency in a historic, increasingly populous area. Previous TSP solutions lacked insight into proven functionality, but LYT delivered measurable success with its innovative solutions.

LYT.transit proved transit signal priority could seamlessly integrate with Boston’s customized systems, providing citywide optimized green lights and real-time performance metrics. This pilot set the stage for a scalable solution, allowing Boston to expand TSP to more intersections without requiring new equipment at every location.
As MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng noted, “This will add to the reliability benefits already felt by riders on Routes 57 and 66 every day, improve bus service for the community, and bring riders to their destinations more quickly.”
Beyond rider benefits, bus drivers gained from improved on-time performance, ensuring better breaks and layover management. This leads to higher job satisfaction and enhances the overall quality of transit services.
According to Benjamin Silverstein, MBTA Transit Analyst, “We received good results from LYT’s data, and we were able to validate those results using our own internal data sources. The results of the pilot were promising, and we hope to expand TSP to more intersections in the future.”

In San Jose, LYT’s transit prioritization technology cut red light wait times by an impressive 50% along routes 66 and 68. Building on this success, they expanded to include Rapid 568, further improving the region’s traffic flow and transit reliability. And now, they are on their way to LYT-ing the whole city with our transit signal priority solution. Our AI-powered platform intelligently prioritizes signals, reducing delays and optimizing transit performance. In just four months, we delivered tangible results that enhanced commuter experiences and laid the groundwork for broader deployments.
In partnership with TriMet, the City of Portland’s Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), and others, LYT played a pivotal role in the Division Transit Project, recognized with the prestigious 2023 Transportation Achievement Award. Our NextGen Transit Signal Priority (TSP) was key to modernizing Portland’s transit infrastructure.
LYT’s cloud-based TSP solution eliminated the need for hardware installations at every traffic signal, streamlining operations with a center-to-center communication network. This innovation improved reliability and speed and set a new benchmark for regional transit operations.
As PBOT Director Millicent Williams noted, this project represents “the most advanced traffic signal technology in the city,” benefiting pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike.
