LYT’S TRANSIT SIGNAL PRIORITIZATION TECHNOLOGY REDUCED RED LIGHT WAIT TIME BY 50% ALONG NEW SAN JOSE ROUTES 66 & 68; EXPANDS TRANSIT PRIORITIZATION TO INCLUDE RAPID 568
Leading AI-Powered Prioritization Solution Expands To Improve More Neighborhood Corridors Throughout San Jose Region
Santa Clara, Calif., – June 12, 2023 - LYT, a leader in intelligent connected traffic technology solutions, announced today it has expanded its LYT.transit solution throughout the city of San Jose with the completion of a project for Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) route 66 and 68. LYT also announced it has been awarded additional intersections to prioritize for the (VTA) Rapid 568 route.
LYT.transit’s signal prioritization technology moves bus transit vehicles through congested intersections faster, safer, and more intelligently. Harnessing the power of a single-edge device installed in the Traffic Management Center (TMC), bus transit vehicles speak directly to networked traffic signals through LYT’s cloud platform. This results in a consistent and reliable green light for every bus transit vehicle in the network.
Key to this technology is LYT’s machine learning models and artificial intelligence technology that knows when to prioritize and activate a traffic signal. LYT’s system uses automotive data in an actionable way as it takes a broader traffic pattern ecosystem into account to have an impact on other surrounding signals, not just the one signal that traffic is heading toward.
LYT established a successful transit prioritization deployment on routes 66 and 68 in just four months. Its TSP solution reduced red light wait time by 50% throughout 20 miles of the route line and completed verification of its testing. After the successful implementation of the project, VTA expanded the TSP project to also include Rapid 568 route downtown urban to the south county area.
“We could not be more excited to continue expanding our successful relationship with the City of San Jose, as LYT now has several projects improving transit and commuter flow through the region to benefit area residents and businesses,” said Tim Menard, CEO and founder of LYT. “We are proud to know that our transit prioritization technology is making a difference and the improved transit performance is a true testament to the overall system.”
LYT is a cloud-based software platform that uses state-of-the-art connected vehicle and machine learning technologies to prioritize the flow of vehicles in a city and across a corridor. By optimizing public transport, emergency, and other vehicles, LYT enables shorter travel times, improved safety, less congestion, improved air quality, longer lives, and more reliable mass transit.
LYT is an intelligent connected traffic technology provider that offers a cloud-based platform that orchestrates today’s Intelligent Transportation Systems. LYT’s AI-powered machine learning technology enables a suite of transit signal priority and emergency vehicle preemption solutions that utilize pre-existing vehicle tracking sensors and city communication networks to dynamically adjust the phase and timing of traffic signals to provide sufficient green clearance time while minimally impacting cross traffic.
