Backend Developer

Location: Santa Clara, Calif. or Remote

Here at LYT, we are building the world’s first cloud-based, truly automated traffic management platform using sophisticated ML and AI to optimize existing transportation infrastructure making people’s commutes shorter and the roads safer.

This cloud-based AI creates the optimal flow of traffic for all vehicles in a city, a county, and beyond. This reduces fuel consumption, reduces carbon emissions, reduces accidents, and reduces the time all of us spend commuting.

We’re looking for highly motivated people who are just as passionate as we are about ending traffic in our communities and making them livable for everyone.

Role:

The mission of this role is to optimize and expand the LYT cloud platform. You’ll integrate various time-series event streams into the LYT cloud to build new platform features and ensure optimal operation of traffic signals for entire cities. You’ll make sure data flows efficiently between the cloud and Maestro, LYT’s edge device that sits in the city’s traffic control center and communicates with the city traffic light network. You’ll design and manage APIs to exchange data within and external to the LYT platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and build scalable, robust, time-critical platform systems and APIs
  • Continuously evaluate and improve platform architecture and features
  • Work with LYT engineering team to design and write testing plans and documents, and write and execute unit/regression tests to maintain system performance goals
  • Conduct design and code reviews
  • Ensure SLAs with stakeholders are met
Requirements:

Related Skills Experience

  • High level of proficiency in Python
  • Proficient in Node.js
  • Proficient in SQL databases, key-value store
  • Proficient in stream processing frameworks like Kafka, Redis streams, pub/sub
  • Proficient in containerized applications deployed to cloud environments
  • Proficient in continuous integration tools like Jenkins, CircleCI
  • Demonstrated ability to write scalable, optimized, readable, and easily maintainable code
  • Proficient in digital tools to communicate with the team and report progress (Slack, Zoom, Asana, etc)

Related Career Experience

Senior QA Engineer

Location: Santa Clara, Calif.

Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior QA Engineer who will ensure the LYT platform is fully tested and new features integrate seamlessly and reliably.

Responsibilities:
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents and provide timely and meaningful feedback to the LYT development team
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities
  • Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open source tools
  • Identify, record, thoroughly document, and track bugs. Create QA Process.
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
  • Work with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
  • Monitor debugging process results
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies

  • Identify and work toward solving a variety of complex, large-scale mobility data challenges in the organization
  • Build data pipelines, develop data models, and analyze a variety of data sources ingested by LYT platform
  • Collaborate with engineering team to enhance machine learning platform to support new  and existing product offerings
  • Generate visualizations to communicate insights and analytics findings

Requirements:

  • 5+ years data science experience
  • Strong programming skills in Python, data-querying skills (SQL, etc), and data processing scripting
  • Experience applying various machine learning techniques and understanding the key parameters that affect their performance.
  • Experience developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes and demonstrated ability to accurately determine cause and effect relationships.
  • Excellent at creating data models for high performance and scalability

Role:

We are looking for a Sr. Product Manager to lead the effort in defining our new cloud-based ML Transit and Emergency Vehicle platform. LYT’s team is focused on building an intelligent, centralized, cloud-based ML platform allowing cities to control all of their traffic signals optimally.

With our existing in-house product, we already have traction with 4 large cities and have proved out the 1.0 product.

Now we are looking for a passionate customer focused Sr. Product Manager to define the 2.0 version of the product and bring everything they know about Intelligent control to making this the Best of Breed Product.

We are looking for someone who wants to create a world class product, understand the competitive landscape, meet with customers and work with our tight team directly on the product.

Responsibilities:

The Sr. Product Manager will be responsible for three major initiatives:

1. Define a great product that customers love, creates revenue and is best of breed.
2. Build a team around you that will continue to define and deliver breakthrough products
3. Actively participate in the vision and strategy of the company

Requirements:
  1. 3-5 Years in the intelligent Traffic Control or Related Markets.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  3. 4+ years in Product Management
  4. Passionate about VOC and very experienced speaking with customers.
  5. Excellent storytelling skills. Knows how to tell a story.
  6. Experienced in writing a PRD including all User Stories.
  7. Has delivered a product used by over 10K users.

Experience with Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption (EVP), Transit Vehicle Priority (TSP) or traffic management Systems
